Our Purpose

We serve in the name of Christ. The purpose of Project Builders is to make Christ known to the global community through the provision of material support for projects or programs administered by the EMC Board of Missions or its Associates.

Throughout much of the global community, our brothers and sisters in Christ are struggling to attain the basic necessities of life. Funding is often lacking for health care, education, pastoral training, and evangelistic outreach ministries. Members of Project Builders commit themselves to sharing of their abundant resources in providing facilities and equipment so that God’s people may become better equipped to spread the gospel.

We are also called to pray for one another to serve each other. In doing so, we demonstrate the love of God. We are called to give of our resources in response to the physical and spiritual needs around us.

Our Function

The main function of Project Builders is to sponsor and facilitate projects directly aiding evangelism, church development, and the discipleship of believers. Project Builders does not intend to hold, manage, or accumulate property. Project Builders reserves the right, as applicable, to participate in the administration of projects in which they are the sole or primary funding agency. Priority will be given to projects with a definite start to completion schedule as opposed to fundraising for program costs or facility maintenance support.

Project Builders is committed to work sensitively in cross-cultural situations. The national church will be instrumental in providing input and giving recommendations for projects. Project funding is not meant to create future operational problems to the local community nor to create dependency on future funding. Assistance in the form of micro-loans to national believers will be considered for carefully researched projects and with sound business principles and accountability structures in place.

Our Organization

An annual meeting is open to all Project Builders members, as well as to those interested in becoming involved. This meeting provides a forum for: discussion of policies, approval of new projects, reporting on finances and projects, and election of the executive. All members are invited to participate through project proposals, serving on international work teams, or visiting project sites.

The executive meets regularly throughout the year and may call special meetings of the membership to present new initiatives or other developments as they arise. Members will be informed of the date and purpose of the meeting at least two weeks prior to the meeting date.

Funding

Project Builders depends on membership fees and voluntary donations to fund its programs. Special appeals to the membership and the wider community will be made to generate support for projects. Members may make bequests, annuities or legacies to Evangelical Mennonite Conference and designate it to Project Builders. An annual golf tournament is held to bring together members and potential members for a social time and to raise funds for designated projects.
